- Peter Irwin Russell (1921- ) was a British poet, publisher, teacher, and editor of Nine magazine (1949-57) and Marginalia (1990- ). He was the poet-in-residence at the University of Victoria, British Columbia (1972-74), a teacher at Purdue University (1976-77), and a teaching fellow at the Imperial Iranian Academy of Philosophy, Tehran (1977-79). The collection consists of Russell's correspondence, manuscripts, and ephemera including 16 copies of letters from Ezra Pound to Edgar Jepson, a small group of ephemera relating to Pound, letters from other poets to Russell, and the galley proofs of an issue of Nine that was never published.

Collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, and ephemera of poet and publisher Peter Russell. Includes 16 copies of letters from Ezra Pound to Edgar Jepson, a small group of ephemera relating to Pound, and letters from other poets to Russell. Also includes two manuscript reviews and writings on William Carlos Williams by Thomas H. Carter. Collection also contains the galley proofs of the journal, Nine, for August 1956, which was never published.

British poet and publisher Peter Irwin Russell was born in 1921; his first book of poetry was published in 1944; became editor of Nine magazine (1949-57), owner of a bookshop and poetry press (1950-63), poet-in-residence at the University of Victoria, British Columbia (1972-74), teacher at Purdue University (1976-77), teaching fellow at the Imperial Iranian Academy of Philosophy, Tehran (1977-79), and became editor of Marginalia in 1990; published poetry, translations, and other works, including Picnic To The Moon (1944), An Examination of Ezra Pound: A Collection Of Essays (1950), Images of Desire: Discrete Sonnets (1962), Theories (1978), The Pound Connection (1992), and The Language Of The Spirit (1997).
