This photograph album contains 24 black-and-white photographs of ceremonies held in Saigon, Vietnam for Women's Day in 1959. The album was created by the organizing committee of the event and given to an unidentified person as a keepsake. The dedication of the album is signed by Mrs. Nguyn Van La. The celebration honored Vietnamese women in general, as well as the Trung sisters. The album also includes music and lyrics to a song extolling "Family Law" entitled "The Flood of the Vietnamese Women's Revolution." Photographs show parade scenes, delegates from women's associations, a girls' choir, and a man identified as the "President of the Republic" [Ngo Dinh Diem] conferring honors upon award recipients. There are captions in English for each photograph.

International Women's Day is an official holiday, celebrated annually on March 8 in several countries around the world, including Vietnam. In 1959 the celebration in Saigon honored the Trung sisters, Trung Trac and Trung Nhi, first-century heroines of the fight for Vietnamese independence from China.
