Scope and content:

This collection contains citrus crate labels (originals and reproductions) primarily from packing and shipping companies in Southern California with an emphasis on the Inland Empire region. A variety of citrus label printers are represented in the collection including Mutual Label & Lith. Co., Schmidt Litho. Co., and Western Litho. Co. Also included in the collection are supplementary informational materials on citrus labels and citrus label collectors.

Acquisition information:
Original provenance unknown. One label (Box 4, Item 22) purchased in 2022.

This collection was minimally processed at the collection level in 2012, and updated with additional description in 2017 by Eric Milenkiewicz, Manuscripts Curator, and Noah Geraci, Digital Assets Metadata Librarian.
