Richard Brown was born August 28, 1818 in Deer Isle, Maine. He left Boston and arrived in San Francisco on October 30, 1849 via Cape Horn on the bark Sea Eagle. His address at this time was on Jones St. He was an Argonaut, but also worked in real estate. He joined the SCP on August 1, 1859. He died on April 11, 1890, at the age of 73, in San Francisco.
