Scope and content:

This collection contains materials originally collected by Carlos Noreña in his own work The Rise and Demise of the UCSC Colleges. Specifically the collection contains selected photocopies of City on a Hill Press dating from 1965 through 1986 and issues of the Stevenson Libre from 1968 through 1970. Neither run of these issues is complete, with only selected articles, pertaining to the development of the colleges, included. Under research materials, correspondence between faculty members and related statistical information from 1958 through 1998 are included. Two reports, Enhancing Undergraduate Education in the University of California: The Next Steps and Institutionalization and the Costs of Innovation: The Santa Cruz Example as well as a thesis about the planning of Santa Cruz also reside in the collection. Finally a draft and outline of Noreña's report are included.
