Biographical / historical:

John Henry Lick was born 06/30/1818 in Fredricksburg, Pennsylvania. The son of Pioneer James Lick, he arrived in California 06/16/1855 aboard the vessel "John L. Stephen." He spent many years as a notary public in San Francisco and in the Nevada territory. He died 10/22/1891 in Lickdale, Pennsylvania.
