Biographical / historical:

The following information contains the family biographies of Frank Edward Sjogren (Franklin) (1859-1926), E[dward] Fred[erick] Franklin (1894-1978), and Phil F. Franklin (1922-).

Frank Edward Sjogren (Franklin) (1859-1926) was born in Sweden, and emigrated to San Francisco in 1886. Between 1898 and 1901 he went to Yukon Territory and Alaska four times, and made three subsequent trips to Alaska between 1914 and 1922. He passed away in San Francisco at the age of 67.

E[dward] Fred[erick] Franklin (1894-1978) was born and raised in San Francisco, where he worked in the newspaper industry before beginning his short maritime career at the age of 18. After 1919, he lived in Glendale, California and worked in public relations.

Phil F. Franklin (1922-) was born and raised in Glendale, California. He entered the California Maritime Academy in August 1941. After December of 1941, the school's curriculum was accelerated and he graduated in December 1942. He was discharged from the Navy in 1946, and has worked in advertising in Southern California after that. He currently lives in Idaho.
