The collection contains material produced and compiled by Jill Levine throughout her research and teaching career in the field of Translation Studies. A majority of the materials focus on her time at UC Santa Barbara, but work from her earlier appointments at the University of Washington and Tufts University are also included.
Materials may include course materials, departmental and committee documents, research proposals and correspondence, and other related professional materials.

Suzanne Jill Levine (October 21, 1946 - ) is an American professor, scholar, critic and translator of twentieth century Latin American literature, and published writer and poet born and raised in New York. She earned her Bachelor's from Vassar College in 1967, a Master's at Columbia University in 1969, and her Doctorate at New York University in 1977.
After graduation from New York University, Levine taught as an Assitant Professor of Romance Language and Literature at Tufts University from 1977-84, and as an Associate Professor of Romance Language and Literature and Comparative Literature at the University of Washington from 1984-88, before joining as a Professor of Latin American Literature and Translation Studies in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Levine continues to lecture and advise at UCSB, in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese and other affiliated departments.
While at UCSB, she developed a Ph.D. Translation Studies emphasis program; taught Film, and Literary and Translation studies in the departments of Comparative Literature, Spanish and Portuguese, and the College of Creative Studies; served as Chair for the Latin American and Iberian Studies Department; and published translated and original works, both as standalone projects and to major anthologies and journals.
For her research and work, Levine has been awarded many honors throughout her career. These include three National Endowment for the Arts fellowships and two National Endowment for the Humanities research grants for literary translations, a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, two PEN America Awards, and the Rockefeller Residency Fellowship at Villa Serbelloni.
