- The John T. Banks Collection consists of a scrapbook of the design, construction, and dedication of the CSUN "spaghetti letters" sculpture located on the corner of Nordhoff St. and Zelzah Ave., and a single unlabeled video. Please note that several of the images can also be found in the University Archives Photograph Collection and that the numbering system used for these slides is an older system that is no longer in use by Special Collections and Archives.

John T. Banks is or has been a California State University, Northridge (CSUN) student/alumni, iron worker, sculptor, firefighter, hazardous material technician, emergency medical technician, and more. As an art major at CSUN in 1973, he won the design contest for what he called an environmental sculpture to be constructed on the CSUN campus. Construction was completed in 1975. This was his first of several monumental public art works commissioned and/or completed.
