David Wight Prall (1886–1940), distinguished philosopher and teacher, was Professor of Philosophy at Harvard and taught also at Cornell, Amherst, the University of Texas, and the University of California. The Prall Papers includes letters, holograph notes, manuscripts, and typescripts of papers and reviews (both published and unpublished), the manuscript of his book, Aesthetic Analysis, and lecture notes for courses taught during the last years of his life. His sister, Margaret C. Prall, Mills Music Department Faculty (1929–1955) and the Chair of the Mills Music Department (1954–1955), is represented by the manuscripts of a number of articles and speeches and some correspondence. Their sisters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Sherwood Anderson) and Dorothea (Mrs. Max Radin), and father, Delbert E. Prall, are also represented.
