Background

Scope and content:

Seven digitally recorded oral histories of LGBTQIA and PRIDE Cal Poly campus students and staff focusing in the LGBTQIA experience in San Luis Obispo.

Biographical / historical:

The Cal Poly LGBTQIA Oral History Project was a research project about history of San Luis Obispo Countyโ€™s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered community and its allies. The project was conducted by Professor Dr. Tom Trice of the Departments of History and Women's and Gender Studies. The primary purpose of the study was to record and preserve oral histories of individuals who identify as members or allies of this community so that students of local history and LGBT history may gain a more thorough understanding of their past. Seven participants were interviewed at the Cal Poly campus by Dr. Tom Trice and by members of the History and Women's and Gender Studies Departments.
