The collection consists of motion picture press kits dating from ca. 1939 to the early 2000s, with the bulk of the collection dating from the 1970s to the 1990s. The collection consists of press kits for primarily American released films and includes 3,700 plus film titles. Each press kit may contain: film credits, biographical information for performers or creators associated with the production, a brief story outline and background information surrounding the production of the film (often referred to as 'production notes'), and/or an occasional press interview transcript. The press kits represent a variety of film genres which were produced by various studios including Columbia Pictures, 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount, United Artists, Universal, and Warner Brothers, among others.
