Background
- Scope and content:
-
The collection consists of material related to the career of producer-director Barry Shear. The collection includes scripts, story outlines, and story proposals for a variety of projects in which it appears Shear was involved; it is not always evident if the projects were produced and, if so, in what media. The bulk of the scripts appear to represent unproduced television and/or motion pictures projects. Confirmed projects include motion picture scripts for Across 110th (believed to have been released as Across 110th Street), The Star-Spangled Girl, The Todd Killings and Wild in the Streets (listed under their working titles).
Also included in the collection is a small number of files pertaining to the Hollywood Pavilion, an exhibit which Shear directed for the 1964 World's Fair in New York City, and Hooray for Hollywood, a comedy-satire program that Shear co-created as well as produced and directed in the mid-1960s.
