Scope and content:

Includes fragments of diaries, 1879-1896; a handwritten songbook, 1870; correspondence relating to relief work in Russia, 1921-1949; and an autograph book, 1933-1950. In German (mostly German Gothic script). Handwritten English translations are available for diaries and some correspondence.

Biographical / historical:

M. B. Fast was a prominent Krimmer Mennonite Brethren author, editor and church leader. He wrote several books, mostly on Mennonite topics, and served as editor of Der Mennonitische Rundschau, 1903-1910, and Der Wahrheitsfreund, 1915-1917. He was active in coordinating relief efforts for Mennonites in Russia following the Bolshevik Revolution, and again after World War II.
