Scope and content:

This artificial collection contains graphic materials related to tauromaquia (bullfighting), chiefly consisting of 38 promotional posters for bullfights in Tijuana, Mexico, dating from circa 1966 to 1973. These small posters, in English, are on card stock measuring from approximately 9.5 x 12.75" to 16 x 22." In addition, there is a set of prints from: "Toreros: Four Water Colors by Nico," printed and published by I.B. Fischer Co., New York City (1953); four oversize posters for a flamenco event and bullfights at the Plaza de Toros Monumental in Spain; a poster for the "La Tauromaquia: Goya Picasso and the Bullfight" exhibit at the Fisher Gallery, University of Southern California (Jan. 14-Feb. 18, 1987); and an undated poster for "Circus Vargas" (April 1-3) at the Pacific Design Center Parking Lot in Los Angeles.

Received from various sources. The majority of items were received as part of the Mr.and Mrs. Herbert F. Boeckmann collection, 1985.
