Series VII.E.2. contains binders and files related to private collections M. Knoedler & Co. helped develop, including those of Benjamin Altman, Robert Sterling Clark, Stephen C. Clark, Henry Clay Frick, Stavros Narchios, and Edward G. Robinson. The series particularly documents the collection of Andrew Mellon and the portraits held by the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. that were part of a gift of the A.W. Mellon Educational and Charitable Trust.
