Scope and content:

Series VII. Photographs contains photographic materials representing artworks handled by the firm of M. Knoedler & Co. in New York, London and Paris. There are approximately 100,000 photographs, along with research and descriptive information, which document artworks purchased and sold by the firm or on consignment at the firm, as well as artworks offered for sale to the firm, but not acquired. The bulk of the photographic files are the artist files maintained by the New York office (Series VII.A. Artist files). There are photographs that document restoration work done on artworks and files related to private collections that the firm helped develop.
