The collection comprises a complete manuscript written by General Kuo detailing his lifelong career in Nationalist Chinese military intelligence, along with photographs and miscellaneous materials pertaining to General Kuo and his family.

Biographical / historical:

Kuo Pin 郭斌 (Guo Bin), 1905-1973, was a general and intelligence officer for Nationalist China. Born in Longyan, Fujian Province, he joined Sun Yat-sen's revolution after college. During Chiang Kai-shek's Northern Expedition (1925-1928), he fought in several battles. In 1933, he joined Nationalist Chinese military intelligence under Dai Li. During World War II, Kuo undertook secret missions in Japanese-occupied territories and managed withdrawal operations in Hong Kong. He accompanied Chiang Kai-shek to the Cairo Summit in 1943. After WWII, he joined the Sino-American Cooperative Organization in Chongqing, backed by the United States Office of Strategic Services. Following 1949, he relocated to Taiwan, maintaining ties with Nationalist Chinese intelligence until retiring in 1954. Kuo passed away in Taipei in 1973.
