Eighteen scrapbooks that relate to Harold S. Dobbs. Three scrapbooks related to his business interests (including drive-in restaurants and bowling alleys); nine related to his career as a supervisor on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors (1951-1967), and six related to his bids to be mayor of San Francisco in 1963, 1967, and 1971. The collection not only provides an interesting political history of San Francisco and Dobbs, but also provides some interesting information on the political-related activities which Harold's wife, Annette, undertook on his behalf.

Harold S. Dobbs was a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors (1951-1967) and ran for mayor of San Francisco in 1963, 1967, and 1971. Dobbs was also a lawyer, businessman, politician, and civic leader.
- Acquisition information:
- Transfer from the Judah L. Magnes Museum, 2010.
- Processing information:
-
All of the scrapbooks were microfilmed by the staff of the Western Jewish History Center of the former Judah L. Magnes Museum. After microfilming, the staff chose to separate some loose items to better preserve the contents of the scrapbooks. Some physical scrapbooks will have empty pages but the loose contents of these scrapbooks are available and noted in the container listing. To view the scrapbooks as they existed before processing, view the microfilm copies.
- Arrangement:
-
