Renato Rosaldo is a cultural anthropologist and joined the Stanford University anthropology faculty in 1970. He was born in Champaign, Illinois in 1941. He graduated from Harvard College in 1963 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Spanish History and Literature. In 1971 Rosaldo graduated from Harvard University with a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology.
At Stanford he became the Lucie Stern Professor in the Social Sciences (emeritus). He then left Stanford to teach at New York University and is now New York Institute for the Humanities Fellow.
