Abstract:
The Company Theatre records document the activities and history of the Company Theatre, an experimental, groundbreaking theater company founded in Los Angeles in 1967. Several USC students and graduates were among the Company Theatre's founding members, including Steven Kent and Gar Campbell. The Company Theatre remained active until around 1972, at which time its descendent, the ProVisional Theatre, commenced its decade-long run involving many of the same artists. The collection includes production stills and other photographs, production files, original posters, reviews of shows, press coverage in major newspapers, costumes, internal correspondence and governance records, administrative records, and correspondence with donors and arts foundations.

Processing information:

The collection is minimally processed. The descriptions for most of this finding aid's box-level records were transcribed from sticky note inventories affixed to each box. In cases where the inventories included longer lists of contents, the corresponding record title uses an abridged version of the note with the full transcription in the record's scope and contents note. Boxes that were not labeled have record titles in brackets.
