The Filipinos in the Sacramento Region Oral History Project records the history and experiences of Filipinos in Sacramento, Elk Grove, the Sacramento Delta, and nearby cities. The interviews were conducted in 2020, with additional interviews scheduled for 2021. This oral history project was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in virtual and telephone interviews via Zoom and Google Voice. The audio files (in M4A and MP3 format) captures family, community and personal histories of Sacramento’s Filipinos. The interviews captured broad aspects of Sacramento’s Filipino community, including general community history, social organizations (such as the Filipino Community of Sacramento and Vicinity, the Filipino Women’s Club, and Sacramento Filipino Youth Association), farmworkers in Sacramento and the Sacramento Delta, recreation activities and community get-togethers, religious services and activities, Filipino American veterans, American Legion Post 604 Magellan, the Rizal Community Center, and plans for a community-owned Filipino Center.
