Background

Scope and content:

This collection consists of 47 audiocassette recordings of lectures from UCSB Professor of English Marvin Mudrick (1921-1986). Mudrick founded UCSB's College of Creative Studies and served as provost until 1984.

Biographical / historical:

Marvin Mudrick taught at UCSB from 1949 to 1986. Mudrick established the University's College of Creative Studies in 1967, where he served as provost until 1984.

Mudrick published five collections of his essays on writers and literature.
