Scope and content:

Records of the California Beta Pi Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, including seven yearbooks and original charter. The yearbooks document the chapter's altruistic activities in the community, and include photographs, news clippings, and ephemera. The chapter expects to donate meeting minutes and year-end reports to supplement this collection.

Biographical / historical:

Alpha Delta Kappa was founded in 1947 by Agnes Shipman Robertson, Marie Neal, Marion Southall and Hattie Poppino, to recognize and support the professional efforts of women educators. The California Beta Pi Chapter was chartered in March 1968 with 16 original members, and Ruth Chapin as the first Chaplain. Activities have historically included workshops, guest speakers, educational programs, and altruistic projects to support the local community.
