The Captain Charles Jackson Papers contains photographs, correspondence, and ephemera related to Jackson's personal life. Service medals, ribbons, and copies of records document his military career in the United States Marine Corps and service in China.

Biographical / historical:

Captain Charles Jackson was born July 23, 1916 in Clarion, Iowa to William Edward Jackson and Verna Evans Jackson. He entered into duty in the United States Marine Corps in 1934 and served in Tientsin, China from May 18, 1939 to May 20, 1941.

He married Gladys Van Ohsen on July 27, 1941. After over 20 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corp, he retired in 1955 with the rank of Captain.
