Scope and content:

This collection contains regional and national print media reporting and reflecting on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. The dates covered in the collection range from 1963-1967. The print media in this collection documented the assassination, its aftermath, the nationally televised funerary ceremony, and public vigils. Newsweek, Life, Time, Look, and TV Guide are some of the news magazines that covered President Kennedy’s life, family, presidency, and death.

Biographical / historical:

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) was the 35th President of the United States of America. He was assassinated on November 22, 1963 at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas by Lee Harvey Oswald. Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson assumed the presidency within hours after the assassination.
