Scope and content:

The Henry Hill drawings and specifications of the Mr. and Mrs. Martin Haet house spans 3 linear feet and dates from circa 1970 to circa 1984. The collection consists of specifications and four architectural drawings in the form of reprographic copies. Drawings include: a bird’s eye view of the property on which the residence was built, assembly details of two exterior walls, and details. Drawings are undated and list Jack Kruse as Hill’s associate.

Biographical / historical:

Albert Henry Hill was born on July 9, 1913 in the United Kingdom. Hill attended the University of London for six months and then transferred to the University of California, Berkeley where he earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture. He went onto to study architecture at Harvard University where he graduated with his master’s degree in 1938. While attending Harvard, Hill worked as a draftsman for the architect John Dinwiddie in Oakland, California from 1936 to 1937. In 1938 Hill became Dinwiddie’s associate and subsequently his partner in 1939. In 1947 Hill opened his own firm, which Jack Kruse joined in 1979 as Hill’s associate. Henry Hill died in 1984.
