Scope and content:

When the Domestic Partners Law went into effect in San Francisco on Valentine's Day in 1991, many LGBT people staged a celebration at City Hall. This collection documents the event and the city's legal recognition of same-sex couples. It includes a letter from Supervisor Harry Britt inviting community members to celebrate, collages, photographs, invitations and valentines.
