Scope and content:

This collection consists of University of Southern California Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences records from past deans Joseph Aoun, Peter Starr, and Howard Gilman. They include audio recordings, videotapes, correspondences, publications, reports, and administrative records from 1996 to 2008.

Biographical / historical:

Joseph Aoun was dean of the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at the University of Southern California from 2000 to 2006. He was a part of the USC Department of Linguistics starting in 1982 and served as head of the academic Senate. Peter Starr was interim Dean of USC's College of Letters, Arts, and Science from 2006 to 2007. He was a professor of French and Comparative Literature at USC starting in 1985. Howard Gillman was dean of the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at the University of Southern California from 2007 to 2012. In 1990 he started teaching as a professor of Political Science at the University of Southern California.
