The Rancho Cucamonga Grape Harvest Festival was first held in 1939 and was called the "Cucamonga Wine and Grape Festival" in the community then known as Cucamonga. The Cucamonga Service Club sponsored the event, which was held in early September to coincide with the fall harvest.
In 1981, the Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce took over festival operations and, in later years, moved the event to June. The most recent festival, held in 2017, was called the "Inland Empire Grape Harvest Festival" and was held at Cucamonga-Guasti Park in Ontario.
The harvest festival was long billed as "California's Oldest Grape Harvest Festival," a designation made official by the state legislature in 1987.
During its history, the event featured a variety of entertainment, including a grape stomp, wine tasting, and musical acts.
