- Biographical / historical:
-
Albert Nozaki (1912 - 2003) was an American art director of Japanese descent. He was most active in film during the 1940s through 1960s at Paramount Studios, but his career was interrupted in 1942 when, shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he was dismissed from his job and sent to the Manzanar internment camp. He was released in 1943 and worked as an industrial designer in Chicago. After the war, he returned to Paramount, working on such films as THE BIG CLOCK (1948), SORROWFUL JONES (1949), and THE BUCCANEER (1958). He is best known for his designs for THE WAR OF THE WORLDS (1953), and was nominated in the art direction category for THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1956).
