The collection includes programs for Arabian horse events, directories of Arabian horse organizations, clippings and other printed materials related to the Arabian horse. Also included are correspondence to Jay Meyers and pedigrees for Arabian horses.
- Biographical / historical:

Joseph S. "Jay" Meyers was born July 21, 1919 in Martinsburg, Missouri to Henry and Harriett Gillaspie Meyerpeter. Meyers married his first wife Irma D. Smith of Mexico, Missouri in 1939. They divorced in 1964 and Meyers married his second wife Dawn Potter in 1966. Meyers had eight children, 23 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
Meyers served in the United States Navy in the Pacific during World War II. In 1946, he moved to California and worked as a machinist for Westinghouse. During this time, he began to breed and show Arabian horses. Horses that he bred and trained would go on to win National Championships. Notable horses include Dorian Bey (Arabian Horse Association registration number 68813), Zurraq, Bimande (number 27238), and Bint Hassala (number 18755).
Meyers returned to Missouri in 1958 and moved again to Fairfield, Iowa in 1961. There he would farm and continue his breeding operation. He died in 2006 at the age of 86.

- The materials were donated to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona by the estate of Joseph S. Meyers in 2012.

The collection was processed by Paul Hottinger in 2012. The finding aid was revised in 2020 by Alexis Adkins and the collection number changed from 2012.002 to 0043 and the collection title changed from Joseph S. "Jay" Meyers Collection to Joseph S. "Jay" Meyers Papers.
