Scope and content:

A small collection of the papers of Milton Nunn Bramlette (1896-1977), geoscientist and professor of geology at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Bramlette was known for his studies of the biostratigraphy of nannoplankton fossils, which were used for dating ocean sediments. The collection includes correspondence, research notes, data, and photographs.

Arranged in three series: 1) CORRESPONDENCE, 2) WRITINGS, and 3) RESEARCH PROJECTS.

Acquired 1983-1987
Custodial history:

After Bramlette's death, Edward Winterer, William Riedel and Frances L. Parker examined his files and books. Winterer saved this material, and transferred it to the SIO Archives with the permission of Emily Bramlette Assami. Later, additional material was found by Joe Curray in a desk that had belonged to Bramlette; Curray donated that content.
