Scope and content:

This collection consists of a leather book containing the records of graduates from the University of Southern California from 1884-1916. These records are handwritten directory entries of approximately 800 past students. Each double sided page includes the following information: the student's name, class year, date of birth, birthplace; the name of their father and father's occupation; what high school the student attended, any college attended prior to USC, their honors, fraternity association, or literary societies, and the date of graduation and degree awarded; what university was attended for graduate study, honors received, papers published, thesis during study, advanced degrees awarded; any public or political positions, books published or inventions; membership of fraternal, scientific, or other organizations; marriage date, to whom and what their college and occupation is; names of children and their date of birth; and a yearly record of residence, occupation, and remarks.
