Scope and content:

This collection comprises one sound disc with accompanying transcript of an oral history interview with Eva Dimond Ygalsky. The interview was conducted by Joel Neuberg on behalf of the Holocaust Media Project on April 13, 1983. Eva Dimond Ygalsky is a Holocaust survivor.

The interview describes Ms. Ygalsky's deportation to Kovno ghetto in 1942 and her experiences there, including her separation from her young child by the Nazis. She describes her deportation to a concentration camp in Estonia, the work she performed there, and the cruelty of the guards. She briefly describes her experiences in Auschwitz and Stutthof. Ms. Ygalsky describes her liberation by the Soviets in 1945 and her postwar life, including her business trading goods on the black market in Danzig (Gdansk), as well as emigration to the United States.
