Scope and content:

This collection consists of Dan Duryea's papers and scrapbooks with photographs and newspaper clippings, scripts, and contracts. Duryea (1907-1968) was an American actor both on stage and in films and television series. This collection includes his work on television series "China Smith" and "Peyton Place."

Materials include approximately 70 screenplays (1941-1966); television scripts for approximately 50 episodes of The Affairs of China Smith (1952-1956); approximately 75 miscellaneous television scripts for programs in which Duryea acted; television scripts and call sheets for approximately 60 episodes of Peyton Place (1967-1968); and scripts of 6 stage plays (1952-1956). Also included are 8 scrapbooks (1924-1967), correspondence, publicity booklets, articles, story treatments, and programs. Among the screenplays are Ball of Fire (1941), The Little Foxes (1941), The Pride of the Yankees (1942), and Winchester '73 (1950).

Dan Duryea (1907-1968) was an American actor both on stage and in films and television series. Duryea often played villain roles, acted in film noir and western series, and was a Broadway actor.
