The Barton Phelps collection is a growing collection. It consists of 7 rolls of drawings for the Clark Library at UCLA, containing copies of the original Robert Farquhar drawings, unbuilt gatehouse restoration, master plan and site plans, and schemes and final plans for the North Range of the Library grounds. There are also 11 presentation boards featuring photographs and renderings of the Clark Library and North Range. Additionally, there is one notebook with slides and photographs of the Library, as well as a small box with a bound report and magazines.

Barton Phelps (b. 1946, Brooklyn, NY) is a Los Angeles based architect who grew up in Westfield, NJ and Highland Park, IL. He received his architecture degree from Yale University, where he was a student of Vincent Scully, Jr. After graduating from Yale, he worked for Sir Colin St. John Wilson and Partners in London. Phelps moved to Los Angeles and worked for Frank Gehry. Phelps worked with Charles Moore, Urban Innovations Group, and was a partner with Marc Appleton in Appleton/Phelps Architets. He taught architecture at Rice University in Houston in the late 1970s; in Los Angeles he taught at UCLA and was Assistant Dean of the Graduate School of Architecture and Urban Planning from 1980-1983. Phelps opened his own firm in Los Angeles in 1984, Barton Phelps & Associates. In 1993, Phelps was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
