Approximately 12 press photographs, most of which appear to have originated from the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, are also included.

Biographical / historical:

American poet Charles Edward Anson Markham was born in Oregon City, Oregon, and graduated from San Jose State Normal School in 1872. He lived most of his later life in New York. He is most well-known for his poems "The Man with the Hoe," and "Lincoln, Man of the People."
