Abstract:
A.H. Sorensen Logbook and pamphlets (SAFR 14267, HDC 57) consists of one logbook and ten Notices to Mariners pamphlets dating between 1978-1933. The logbook records the exercises Sorensen did to practice navigation calculations. The pamphlets give the correction of sailing directions, light lists, and charts. It is published by the Hydrographic Office under the authority of the Secretary of the Navy. This collection has been processed to the collection level and is open for use without restrictions.

A.H. Sorensen Logbook and pamphlets (SAFR 14267, HDC 57) consists of one logbook and ten Notices to Mariners pamphlets dating between 1978-1933. The logbook records the exercises Sorensen did to practice navigation calculations. The pamphlets give the correction of sailing directions, light lists, and charts. It is published by the Hydrographic Office under the authority of the Secretary of the Navy. This collection has been processed to the collection level and is open for use without restrictions.

The logbook records the exercises Sorensen did to practice navigation calculations. In the first section, each page is headed by "exercise," a number and a heading such as amplitude, mercators sailing, azimuth, chronometerand latitude by meridian. The second part consists of notes on board and timber measurements, clubhauling, boxhauling, finding circumference, and contents of cisterns. The last part, headed by "examples," begins on March 15, 1982 and ends January 1, 1924. This section mentions a vessel and its voyage at the bottom of each page.
