This collection primarily consists of printed matter and photographs related to R. Richard Heppe's career at Lockheed - California. There is a sporadic run of newsletters from the Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, Lockheed Star from 1956 through 1994. An item of interest may be a DVD and transcript of Lockheed Martin Legacy Program Oral History Interview project with Heppe, which was conducted in 2011. There are also hundreds of photographs that are roughly organized into three different categories: miscellaneous; miscellaneous aircraft; and miscellaneous demonstrations, presentations, and site visits. The miscellaneous photographs include portraits of Heppe. The oversize box consists of two scrapbooks and the oversize folder contains printed matter related to Lockheed's L-2000 supersonic transport (SST).

Ralph Richard "Dick" Heppe was born on March 4, 1923 in Kansas City, Missouri. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering and aeronautics from Stanford University in 1944 and 1945. He received his professional engineer's degree from California Institute of Technology in 1947. He began his career at Lockheed - California Company in Burbank, California in 1947 as an aerodynamicist. During his 41-year career at Lockheed, he was involved with the F-104, the Electra transport; the United States Navy P-3 and S-3A patrol craft; the L-1011 transport; the F-117 stealth fighter; and the United States Air Force F-22A. He became president of Lockheed - California Company in 1984.
