The collection consists of television scripts, memos, and notes related to the career of Frank Shaw. Projects represented in the collection include The Bill Cosby Show , Co-ed Fever, and T he Glen Campbell Show, among others.

Biographical / historical:

Frank Shaw was born in New York City in 1932 and graduated from Syracuse University. After military service in Korea, Shaw studied acting in New York. He Shaw appeared in the off-Broadway play, Prometheus Bound, the film The Night They Raided Minsky's and in Mel Brooks' musical, The Producers. In the 1960s, Shaw partnered with actor Michael Elias to write and perform comedy. They appeared in comedy clubs, college campuses, and The Tonight Show. Shaw, along with Elisa, started their Hollywood careers as writers for The Leslie Uggams Show. Shaw's television credits as television writer and/or producer inlcude The Bill Cosby Show, Co-Ed Fever, The Glen Campbell Hour, The New Dick Van Dyke Show, and others. He also wrote comedy sketches and worked with many top comedians including Steve Martin, Dom DeLuise and Carl Reiner, among others. In 1979, Shaw and Elias wrote the original screenplay for Robert Altman's The Frisco Kid. Shaw died in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1992. From: Frank Shaw Script Collection finding aid, William M.
