Scope and content:

This album shows SP's Roseville Yard and its various operations such as dispatching, hump yard, Pacific Fruit Express, locomotive repair and truck services. Photographs are in clear sleeves with minimal explanatory captions. Includes an introduction and aerial views of the yard. [Album 43]

Biographical / historical:

In 1906, Southern Pacific moved its Rocklin facilities into Roseville, California. It was joined there in 1913 by Pacific Fruit Express and was last renovated in 1956. Since being reopened by Union Pacific in 1999, it is the largest rail facility on the West Coast.
