Abstract:
The John W. Borden ephemera collection consists of ca. 964 items collected by Mr. Borden during the 1960s through the 1990s.
During these years he was an active amateur letterpress printer and participated in serveral clubs with a focus on printing
and the book arts including the Roxburghe Club of San Francisco, the Zamorano Club (in Los Angeles), and the Book Club of
California. These organizations regularly produced printed items that dealt with the activities of the club (i.e., meeting
announcements, menus, etc.) and generally these were produced by the printer members of the club. Printer members also prepared
keepsakes for most meetings; those for the bi-annual joint meetings of the Roxburghe and Zamorano Clubs were often quite elaborate.
The collection consists primarily of these announcements and keepsakes prepared by the noted printers of the period. Other
materials include occasional items such as Christmas cards and various limited edition publications. The collection is organized
by the name of the printer and/or the press as listed below.
