War Department communications to signal Corps Sgt. M. M. Sickler in Sacramento from January 19 to December 9, 1880.

Biographical / historical:

Observer-Sergeant Marion M. Sickler served at the U. S. Signal Service Station at Sacramento from April l6, 1879 to March 15, 1881. This station was established on July 1, 1877, as part of the Weather Department of the Signal Service to record various meteorological measurements and give warning to farmers of the approach of storms, floods, frosts, and cold waves.
