Born-digital materials in this series came to Stanford through two accessions, MSS-1999-191 and MSS-2011-036. Accession MSS-1999-191 includes 51 3.5 inch floppy disks, six zip disks, and 13 optical discs containing Creeley's writings, business records, email and other correspondence primarily from the 1990s. Accession MSS-2011-036 includes 381 3.5 inch floppy disks, 101 optical discs, three zip disks, seven computers, one external hard drive, two compact flash cards and one Apple iPod. Processed material from these computer media include appoximately 21,300 files containing roughly 42 gigabytes of data. Procesesd files contain Creeley's writings, business records, images, digital audiovisual files, general files, email and other correspondence dating primarily from 1987 to 2005. Computer media in both accessions also contain program and system files, as well as files created by Creeley's family. This later accession was organized by Steven Clay of Granary Books in New York, and was transferred to Stanford University Libraries after Creeley's death.
This series is divided into subseries: subseries 1. Digital files containing correspondence, subseries 2. Digital files containing creative writing C, subseries 3. Digital files containing business records, subseries 4. Digital images, subseries 5. Digital audiovisual files, subseries 6. General files.
Subseries 1 encompasses files containing letters, faxed documents, and email correspondence dating from 1987 up until Creeley's death in 2005. Subseries 2 encompasses word processing files containing Creeley's original writing. Subseries 3 encompasses schedules, speaking engagements, and Creeley's administrative work related to his role on the faculty at SUNY Buffalo and later at Brown University. Subseries 4 contains JPEG and TIFF images from Creeley's computer media. Subseries 5 includes digital audiovisual files containing recorded readings by Creeley and other writers. Subseries 6 contains general and miscellaneous files from Creeley's computer media, not encompassing program and system files.

Data was captured from 567 computer media elements which contained 252,332 gigabytes of data, 1.179 million files with 315,160 being unique. Of the unique files, 21,300 files containing approximately 42 gigabytes of data were processed and are available for research in the Field Reading Room. Files were screened for personal identifying information (PII) and sensitive content. Files containing program or system files, Creeley family files, files containing personal identifiable information, files deleted by the creator, and commercial files such as software, music and movies were not processed. Full file trees for all captured computer media are accessible through the catalog record.
Some original file names were changed to meet the Stanford Digital Repository's file name character constraints. Some original file extensions were changed to accurately reflect the file format.
Modern copies of legacy digital file formats were created to facilitate researcher access; for example, PDF and TIFF files were created for file formats such as WordPerfect for MS-DOS/Windows, Microsoft Write and Microsoft Works.
