Part I: Square piano.

 

Made by Jean Henri Pape, 1789-1875, French piano maker. The instrument is numbered "61" and bears the date 1819. Six octave keyboard. Severely damaged. Picked up from Mr. Haussermann's apartment, 405 Davis Court, San Francisco, by Mr. Bruce Brown and John A. Emerson, and delivered to the UCB Department of Music on Tuesday, July 21, 1981.
