    Scope and Content

The Mabel Vernon Correspondence is a portion of the Anne Martin Collection that has been catalogued separately due to its size. Mabel Vernon was an extremely active suffragist on the national scale and became involved with the Nevada Suffrage campaign in 1914 as Anne Martin's assistant. After suffrage was won for Nevada in 1914, Mabel Vernon continued her work as a member of the Nevada Women's Civic League. In 1918, she became Anne Martin's campaign manager in the senatorial race and again served in this capacity during Anne Martin's 1920 campaign.
After the 1920 campaign, Mabel Vernon returned to her work at the National Woman's Party and continued until 1930 when she became associated with the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. In 1940, she joined the executive committee of the Peoples Mandate to Governments to End Wars. She continued in this work until about 1945. No dates or further information is available on her.
The collection is divided into three parts: Part I. General and Suffrage Correspondence from 1914-1918; Part II. Anne Martin's Senatorial Campaign, 1918 and Part III. Anne Martin's Senatorial Campaign, 1920.
Correspondence addressed to Anne Martin will be found in the Anne Martin Collection, P-G 282. (See key to arrangement for their location).
