Copies of papers filed in court cases; copies of leases, agreements, sales contracts, eviction notices, etc.

Biographical / historical:

Amador County was formed on May 10, 1854 from land in Calaveras County north of the Mokelumne River. After several changes the final boundaries were set in 1923. It is probable that the collection originated in the office of A.C. Brown, an attorney who came to the county from Missouri in 1851. He practiced law in Jackson and was County Judge 1877-1878.
