Selected civil case records from the Superior Court of the City and the County of San Francisco, 1905-1922.
The constitution of California established a Superior Court in each county. San Francisco became a county in 1850. In 1856
the city and county governments were consolidated, the only such arrangement in the state.
The Hall of Justice and City Hall were destroyed in the earthquake and fire of 1906 and Superior Court records were almost
completely lost. Case numbering was restarted at 1 after the 1906 disaster.
The list is arranged by case number. An index by case number, by plaintiff name, and by defendant name is available. The collection
is also indexed in the California Information File.
