The collection documents Ribera's work in parks and recreational planning.
Alan E. Ribera received his first BA from the University of California, Berkeley in Political Science and a second in Landscape Architecture. During his career, Ribera worked as director of Planning for the Parks and Recreational Public Works Division at the landscape architecture and planning firm of Cardoza-Dilallo Associates Inc. During his career Ribera specialized in parks and recreational planning, including city-wide park systems and master planning, often working with associate John C. Sue. In addition to landscape and park design, Ribera began sculpting in 1964 and in subsequent years created numerous large-scale sculptural forms within his park designs. Ribera was a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and of the California Parks and Recreation Society.
